Impacts Of Technology In Agriculture

 What comes to your mind by the mention on "agriculture"? You might think of soil, water, crops, digging/ploughing, planting, harvesting, equipment used in agriculture e. t. c.

By the mention of agriculture, my uncle raises his hands and says he better eat stones in the big city than going to the ' shamba'.

I kind of understand him because in their days farming was all about getting tired during land preparation, ploughing, planting and harvesting but later on it could mount to low or no yields at all.

Why do I say no yields at all! When crops were at their yielding stage there were animals especially monkeys who would eat this fruits of the crops and those "my uncle's"  who were to stop these animals  were busy complaining of hunger and  getting tired.

I compare agricultural methods of farming to this days where technology has created great impact and seen today being fun as a farmer. Look for example during land preparation a tractor  will complete an acre of land in hours same to harvesting.

 

Animals do not have to eat our plants a more since there are different sprays  to prevent them only by smell of the spray the animal cannot eat the fruits. Moreover there are wild services hence animals rarely distract the yields. This sprays also help in high yields.

 

I would mostly dwell on the impacts of technology in Agriculture for I apply them everyday. What can a farmer do without technology!
